Parts

To build our quadcopter we will need the following parts:

1) The frame

Find it here : 4-axis 450 F Frame

You can also build your own frame if you are a handyman. Note that if you want to have a better fit of the motors on the frame without having to add a patch you might consider buying a frame with holes that fit the motors fixation holes.

2) The transmitter and receiver

Find it here : Flysky FS-i6X

3) The Raspberry Pi

Find it here: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Motherboard

4) The camera

Find it here: PiCamera

5) The microcontroller

Find it here: Crius MultiWii SEV2.6

6) The FTDI

This piece is useful because the micro controller doesn't have a USB mini port so this card is an extension to the microcontroller board that will allow us to connect it to the computer via USB and perform the configuration.

Find it here: FTDI USB to TTL /FT232 Converter

7) Small Wires

Useful to make the connections between the controller and the Raspberry Pi

Find them here : Elegoo 120pcs Multicolored Dupont Wire

8) The motors

Get 4 motors from HobbyKing: Turnigny 1100kV Brushless Motor or from Amazon: Liobaba 1100KV 2-4S Brushless Motor.

9) The ESCs

Get 4 from HobbyKing: 30A ESC 3A UBEC or from Amazon: Brushless ESC 30A Brushless ESC firmware w / 5V 3A UBEC.

10) The Battery

Find it at Robotshop: 11.1V 3000mAh 40C 3S LiPo Battery or at Amazon: HRB 11.1V 5000mAh 3S 50C-100C LiPo Battery

11) The connectors

They are used to do the soldering and connect the ESCs to the motors.

You will need 12 female connectors for this build

Find them here: 3.5 mm Gold Connectors (10 female pieces) or at Amazon: Gold Platted connectors 3.5mm (3 pieces)

If you want a flexible build and the ability to change and remove easily the ESCs, you should take some XT connectors.

These will be solder on the ESCs and on the distribution board cables.

Find them here : Artrinck 10 Pairs/20 pcs xt60 connector XT-60 60A/100A Male Female

12) The propellers

Find them at HobbyKing: Slowfly Propeller 10x4.5 Blue (4 pieces) or at Amazon: FidgetGear 10x4.5 Propeller (Blue) (4 pieces)

13) The flight controller mounting pad

The mounting pad reduces the vibrations perceived by the flight controller which increases the stability of the quadcopter.

Find it at AliExpress: Gyro flight controller mounting pad (10 pieces) or at Amazon: Flight Controller Mounting Pad (10 pieces).

14) Some heats-shrinkable sheaths

You can find it here: Shrinkable tube - SODIAL (100 pieces) or get it at an electronic local store.

15) Wires

Find it here : 16GA wire

You can also check at your local hobby store if you can get a smaller quantity.

Optional)

A support

If you don't want to use only the mouting pad, velcro and tiewraps to fix all your parts on the frame, you can buy a sort of rack or a Raspberry Pi case that you can transform into a support with some bolt and nuts.

A buzzer or a low battery voltage monitor

This is useful to know how much battery you have left to be sure that you will not crash or corrupt your data on the Raspberry Pi. Also, if you let your Li-Po battery go flat, it will be unusable. So, it is a good habit to stop flying when the battery is starting to get low.

Find it here : Venom Low Voltage Monitor for 2S to 8S LiPO Batteries or 5V Active Buzzer Alarm Beeper

Tools:

You will need a screwdriver and other usual tools that you surely already have at home.

However, you also need a soldering iron to connect the eletronics togheter, you can find one here: Holife Soldering Iron Kit, 60W 110V Adjustable Temperature Controlled Welding Tool

To improve your soldering experience, it's highly recommended get a better soldering wire. A rosin core high grade solder is a must if you want a good flux.

Find it here: AUSTOR 60-40 Tin Lead Rosin Core Solder Wire for Electrical Soldering (100g, 0.8mm)

Also, you can don't want to use water to clean your soldering iron tip, you can use a brass wire sponge.

Find it here: Aoyue Soldering Iron Tip Cleaner with Brass Wire Sponge, No Water Needed

To put your wires and your connect well in place it is useful to have a soldering support. This way you are sure that there will be contact between you connections when you solder and you are occupied with your iron in one hand and the soldering wire in the other hand.

Find it here: Elenco Helping Hands with 2 .5" Magnifying Glass

If you bought all the parts suggested here including the soldering iron, the total should be of 450.71 CAN$.
